Formalism brings death, seek Jesus for true fellowship with God. 1. Jerusalem's trust was in Temple Theology (7:1-4) 2. The formalism of Temple Theology leads to not loving God or your neighbor. (8-11) 3. An early warning sign of formalism is the abandonment of private and family worship. (17-20) 4. Formalism in more advanced stages leads to child sacrifice. (30-31) 5. Formalism eventually will destroy families, societies, and even individuals. (32-8:3) 6. Seek Jesus for true fellowship with God, don't just go through the motions. 7. If you desire true fellowship with God, you will obey.
